Being part of an excellent team is a gift from God! Whether a sports team, a team at work or church, or even your neighborhood pitching in together to pick up trash for a day, there is joy in accomplishing something alongside great people.
One of our Hope Haven Rwanda team members, Wendy Raffaeli, and I met for coffee with our friend Laura last week in Colorado Springs. Laura reminded us of the exhortation of Scripture to “Spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24).
This verse has long been one of my favorites. It captures the essence of what we aim to do as teammates at Hope Haven Rwanda. Our hope is that we can challenge and inspire each other to love well and to do good works in the name of Jesus. We know this is only by His grace and we pray that it is always for His glory!
To that end, we have been thrilled to see God continue to bring amazing teammates to join us in this mission! In this week’s video, you will meet Brooke Elbert. She is leading our social media outreach efforts and has a passion for serving others well.
After graduating from the University of Colorado, she began to seek ways to serve others, hoping to apply her degree in Communication to contribute to meaningful work. Before long, she was working with various charities, helping them navigate the nuances of social media. Then, through a very interesting set of “Divine appointments,” God worked it out where she could offer the same for Hope Haven Rwanda—and we couldn’t be happier!
What teams have you been part of that have been especially inspirational? Is God calling you to find a team that you can help “spur on toward love and good deeds?”
