Excellence in Learning
Primary School
Primary School is designed to provide students, ages 6-12, fundamental skills in reading, writing and mathematics and to establish a solid foundation for learning. Additional subjects, including technology, citizenship, entrepreneurship and science round out the academic program.
At Hope Haven School our classes have vibrant and caring learning environments. The students actively participate in their classrooms and are encouraged to pose questions, share their interests, and act upon their beliefs. They are engaged in inquiry, exploration and reflection while building foundational skills in all subject areas.
Our learners feel a sense of agency in their classrooms, leading to joyful learning and excitement to come to Hope Haven School each day.
-Fred Karangwa, School Director
The primary classes at Hope Haven follow Competence Based Curriculum currently used in Rwanda.
This curriculum focuses on knowledge, skills and values, as well as development of competencies and addressing crosscutting issues to ensure that young people at every level of learning achieve their full potential.
Issues integrated within the curriculum include Peace and Values Education, Genocide Studies, Gender Education, Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Financial Education, Environment and Sustainability and Standardization Culture.
We prepare our students to be Christian world leaders and job creators, by bringing excellent holistic education through well-trained teachers, relational Bible teaching, entrepreneurship training, public debate classes, public speaking and school presentations.
Hope Haven School develops learners to be patriotic and responsible citizens, ready to play a full part in society. In addition, we produce successful life-long learners, ready to adapt to new situations and be agents of change.
