Early last Thursday morning, six Hope Haven students, their parents, a teacher and an immigration attorney gathered outside Hope Haven’s gate. They piled into one bright yellow bus while the kids were jittery with excitement. Their destination—the United States Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda, for visa interviews.
These children are part of something new and exciting happening in our community. In just a few short days, they will board a plane for the United States to join His Little Feet International Children’s Choir. This family-centered organization exists to help, love, and train vulnerable children worldwide through the His Little Feet International Children’s Choir and Life Training Academy. Children from various countries are interviewed and selected to travel across several states during a 10-month tour to heighten awareness and educate others about the countries they represent. On a personal level, they are tutored in their areas of study and discipled in small group settings with a team of educators and young adults focused on Christ-centered discipleship.
We thank God that each one of the candidate students was approved for visas to the United States! Following their trip to the embassy, we transported each family back to their homes, where we delivered a bundle of practical household items as a symbol of our gratitude for what God has done. Another special blessing was the opportunity for each family to share their thoughts, expressing their excitement and gratitude for this opportunity for their children. We ended each visit with a prayer thanking God for His provision thus far and for continued guidance and protection in the months ahead. The kids couldn’t stop smiling—and neither could we!
Proverbs 25:25 reads, “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” These children, Prince, Reponse, Jack, Sharon, Leila, and Laurene, along with Sylvia, their chaperone and teacher, will represent Hope Haven Rwanda and share about how they, along with more than 500 other students, have been transformed by being part of our community.
God is at work in many ways in Rwanda, and there is still a need for additional partnerships so those in material poverty can discover God’s purposes through education, vocational training and discipleship. We are grateful to have this opportunity to partner with His Little Feet and to offer others an opportunity to meet these special junior ambassadors from Hope Haven Rwanda.
If you are interested in seeing a concert during this tour, you can meet these special students and their new friends from India, Kenya and Haiti, by following His Little Feet.
