Do you believe that we are on an epic voyage of faith? I do. We simply have no idea how God will weave our story with the stories of those He calls us to serve. It is an incredible adventure to walk in faith each day!
2 Corinthians 5:7 says that “we walk by faith, not by sight.” We have no idea how God is at work on billions of levels, in more than one million villages in the world, every single second of every day!
On November 7, 2007, at a hospital near Cambridge, England, a beautiful baby boy was born.
On the exact same day, 6,670 miles away, in the heart of Kenya, a beautiful baby boy was born.
Their geography, and their life experiences, would seemingly be forever worlds apart. Surprisingly, it is possible to drive between England and Kenya. Just take a short ferry ride from Spain to Algeria, then jump on the Trans-Sahara Highway, then, and, well, actually having spent some time in the Algerian Sahara Desert, I don’t recommend the 147-hour journey by car. But I digress…
As these baby boys were welcomed into the world on that November day, I believe that God had a specific plan for them. Their story is still short—they are just ten years old—but both of them are in environments where they are being discipled, shaped and loved into the men God wants them to become.
Joseph, the Kenyan, is traveling this year with His Little Feet. This organization helps, loves and trains orphaned and vulnerable children. Their International Children’s Choir and Life Training Academy have helped thousands of children worldwide. At Hope Haven Rwanda, we are thrilled to be part of the His Little Feet tour next year. We can’t wait to see what God does to continue to weave the stories of His children together—to make a lasting impact for His Kingdom in some of the most difficult parts of the world!
Jack, the American, is my youngest son. I met Joseph a couple of months ago, and when I found out they had the same exact birthday, I couldn’t wait to introduce him to Jack. On New Year’s Eve, our entire family joined His Little Feet on a snowy day in Boulder, Colorado, for an amazing performance. As I watched Joseph perform, and Jack listen with unbroken interest, I was overwhelmed with joy at the thought of how God may use these two boys as they grow into good men.
What I love about Hope Haven Rwanda and His Little Feet is that both organizations are transforming lives—on both sides of the world! We are building beautiful bridges of inspiration and connecting families on all sides of the ocean to share part of this epic adventure of faith together!
