This summer I was encouraged by the testimony of Nate & Marissa Moeller. Nate shared that Proverbs chapter three was especially meaningful to him for years, as he considered how God was leading him in life, and who he should share his life with. Like many of us, Nate had already traveled down the path of trying to do things his way and he was reminded that God‘s way is always the best way. The Scripture text that was especially meaningful to Nate during this season was Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Interestingly, at the same time that Nate was trying to trust God and apply this Scripture, his future wife, Marissa, was reflecting on the exact same verse. Coincidence? Not according to them!
When their paths crossed, God brought Nate and Marissa together and they decided to share the rest of their lives together. This summer, they brought that message of hope to Rwanda. They beautifully model marriage and are also quick to share that it isn’t always easy but that God is “making their path straight” as they share this journey together.
By His grace and mercy, God gives us words that anchor us during times of confusion. These words bolster our faith when the fog begins to settle in around us and we aren’t sure which way to turn. Like a solid foundation, God’s Word provides guidance each step of the way. Are you intentionally spending time with God each day, receiving guidance through Scripture and journeying in prayer? He promises to “make our paths straight” when we lean on Him.
