Meeting Hope
Can you imagine what it would feel like to meet someone who had specifically chosen you? Someone who had committed to help change your life? Meeting them face-to-face would be a dream come true.
That is exactly what happened when three new Hope Angel families descended on our campus and met their Kugaba kids for the first time. These students were “meeting hope” when they met these angels. The families from the United States knew that the needs in our community were great. They prayerfully asked God to lead them to the students that most desperately needed their love—and He did!
This is a beautiful demonstration of the Prophet Isaiah’s prophecy about Jesus. Isaiah predicted that Messiah would come and “in his name the nations will put their hope” (Matthew 12:21). Maintaining hope is difficult for many of us during this global pandemic. May we all be reminded that ultimate security comes from our hope in Jesus, not anything this world can offer.
Since we possess that type of hope, we can give that type of hope.
We share with others what we have experienced ourselves. God uses our hearts, our mouths and our hands to help others “meet hope.”
Jamie and Rhonda Whyte have been Hope Angels since the Kugaba Initiative began. They couldn’t wait to bring some of their friends to Rwanda to help serve the community that they have grown to love. Their team was able to support a remarkable men’s ministry event—the first-ever “Marked Men for Christ” conference in Rwanda. Then they took the opportunity to dig in and to witness what God was doing in the lives of our 750+ students and their families.
With God’s help, and a lot of coordination with our Rwanda Leadership Team, these volunteers provided tangible support to families living in the most desperate situations. For example, one family was blessed with a new bunkbed. The two boys in that family laughed hysterically as they clamored to the top bunk of a beautiful newly-constructed bed in their mud home. This bed will provide many hours of rest and safety for these impoverished students. The joy on their faces and the sounds of their laughter reflected the new hope that they were experiencing!
During this crisis, there is a unique way for you to help students like this “meet hope.” The Kugaba Initiative enables you to demonstrate love, commitment and hope to a child at Hope Haven Rwanda.
We are so grateful to announce that you can double your impact when you sponsor a student and become their Hope Angel. Thanks to a generous donor, all new sponsorships between April 1 and June 30 will be matched, up to $75,000! Each new $1,500 annual commitment will be matched by another $1,500 to help a child still waiting to be sponsored.
Our goal is to find Hope Angels for 50 students before the end of June and apply the match to support 50 additional students waiting for their Hope Angel.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these vulnerable children, their family and community. Let’s help them “meet hope” together! Sign up here to become a Hope Angel today: www.HopeHavenRwanda.org/Kugaba
