It’s another gorgeous day in Rwanda, with exciting projects underway, alongside premier educational systems in place for nearly 900 students.
This morning, as we sat on our breakfast patio with a team of 13 for our morning reflection, we considered Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
This text reminds me of the joy that we experience when we sacrificially serve others! What a treat to offer care for someone in need. We recently had the privilege of rebuilding a home for Stephanie in a village not far from ours. Although the project was started by another Hope Haven team, who completed the lion’s share of the work, our optometry and intern team wanted to jump in for a bit.
As we lugged bricks up to the door, through a narrow passageway and to the back of the house, we quickly realized this was not a job for wimps!
Dr. Jina Schaff, Dr. Jamie Anderson, Wendy, Bethany, Gabby, Will, Rhyan, Emma, Lindsay, Gianna and Jack all jumped in with both hands and both feet. As we wrapped up our work, Dr. Anderson, an optometrist who has worked around the world, noted, “I am so impressed with the level of comprehensive care this this organization offers.”
Speaking of comprehensive care, stand by for an incredible story as we deliver prescription eye glasses to our students—all the way from Denver to Kigali—incredible impact!
That is what we aim for—comprehensive care! When Susan started Hope Haven, her vision was for a project where the entire community would be lifted. Her dream is becoming a reality every day—by God’s grace!
How can you offer “comprehensive care” to a friend in need?
