Family Department

At Hope Haven Rwanda, we believe that family is the cornerstone of every child's success.

Uplifting families is at the heart of our mission, and we're committed to empowering them with dignity and opportunity.

A pivotal part of our approach is our dedicated Family Department.

Since 2013, we have been deeply involved in understanding and addressing the needs of our students' families. Through home visits and personal interviews, we assess their living conditions, access to basic necessities, family structures, and the challenges they face. Elevating families is at the heart of our mission, and we understand that dignity and advancement are nurtured through empowerment. Instead of offering handouts, we provide a "hand-up" by creating meaningful job opportunities on our campus.

We believe every family should contribute, even a small amount, toward their child's education.

To make this possible, parents can work in various roles such as agriculture, teaching, construction, cleaning, and kitchen staff.

More than 800 parents serve half-day shifts to contribute towards their student’s school fees. With each shift, they also receive porridge, and can choose to take on additional hours to earn income for their household.

Our team also provides training on hygiene, trauma recovery, and financial management through Christian savings groups. With this holistic approach, we directly enhance our students' well-being and academic performance, fostering a stronger, more resilient community.
